NANOWRIMO Update: Word Count Wonders

November 13, 2005

2005_participant.gifLet me tell you, this National Novel Writing Month (NANOWRIMO for short) is doing wonders for my word counts! I am finally making some significant progress on The Vexing Vixen.

I've passed the 30,000 word count and I'm still going strong, thanks in part to Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Also, the forums at the website are really actually quite useful. It's a shame that the Golden Heart contest deadline is today... I won't be ready for another few weeks ;)

Okay, so don't get me wrong. When you're writing this fast, you will likely write a lot of crap. But actually, this is a fantastic way to get the hard par tout of the way quickly - the first draft. By writing forward and not rereading and editing as you go, you get the hard part out quickly, the raw creative juices, if you will.

You can check out my author profile or find out more about National Novel Writing Month on http://www.nanowrimo.org/.

Stay tuned and I'll try to post an excerpt soon!
