Christmas Angel by Jo Beverley

October 07, 2004

Jo Beverley's Christmas Angel is really several tales which are deftly woven together in the Christmas spirit. Yet another of the Company of Rogues has decided to get married. This time, its war-hero Leander Knollis, the Earl of Charrington.

Leander wants a sensible marriage without the unfortunate love aspects. The love between his mother and father was a one-way feeling, and he cannot stand the thought of binding himself in such a union. Jo Beverley addresses many compelling questions in Christmas Angel - a realistic look at how difficult it can be to open your life to a partner and share responsibilities (especially with children), and most importantly, that no one can control whom or what we love - nor should it be denied. The last chapter is especially smile-worthy - Leander moves from husband to soul mate with panache.
