Devilish is the much-anticipated story of Bey Malloren, Marquess of Rothgar, and the only woman who has ever gotten the better of him, Diana Westmount, Countess of Arradale. These characters met for the first time in the previous book in the Malloren series - Secrets of the Night - but it is not until the Countess is summoned to London by the king that the two headstrong protagonists are really thrown together.
From the first, they recognized that the other was a danger to their well-ordered life, but they both have many responsibilities, and several concerns, that prohibit them ever getting together. Jo Beverley is a master when it comes to historical accuracy in the Georgian period, and the descriptive style of this story is utterly engrossing. Bey is a fantastically well-done character whom we all have been enamoured with since the first Malloren book, Lady Notorious. He's the head of the family, but also apart from it due his mother's insanity, and few things phase him. Diana is very much like him, and can recognize many of the things about him that other, less astute people would not. Of all the Malloren books, this is by far our favorite, and rightly deserves a spot on our Keeper's List.
