Forbidden by Jo Beverley

Wow. Talk about some unlikely plotting. In another of the Company of Rogues novels, Francis, Lord Middlethorpe, is caught in a web of his mother's own making. One little lie starts the ball rolling and soon poor Francis is married to the most unlikely woman he could have imagined - and yet he cannot help but rejoice in that fact.

It's difficult to explain why the plotting in this book is so well done without spoilers, but simply put, you'll enjoy it for its refreshing and yet realistic roll-reversals. Every single character in this story challenges some standard or stereotype, making the plot that much more interesting and enthralling. The main characters - the sweet but mature Francis and Serena, the widow of a depraved and cruel lord - are so well suited. You'll truly enjoy following these loveable characters as they negotiate the path that ultimately binds them together in Forbidden.
