Midnight Pleasures by Eloisa James

October 07, 2004

Sequel to Eloisa James' Potent Pleasures, Midnight Pleasures tells the story of the dashing second twin, Patrick Foakes. Readers will not be disappointed in this whirlwind romantic romp. Lady Sophie York is a spitfire and no one really knows what to think. She's an innocent with a penchant for things naughty - and half the time she doesn't even know what she's talking about! Patrick wants the lovely innocent for himself, but she turns him down with plans to marry one of his best friends, a dull and rather dim earl.

Lady Sophie is a fantasticly hilarious character who manages to get herself into all sorts of trouble. When she demands that her fiance steal her away to Gretna Green, he balks and sends his best friend - none other than Patrick - and this time he's not going to take no for an answer. As with many stories by Eloisa James, the passion flares early in the story, but the newlyweds are not completely happy or trusting. They keep things from each other and don't listen to the advice hinted or given to them by their friends and family. Both Sophie and Patrick need time to learn these lessons before they can be truly content, and the reader will enjoy the ride. Those who have read Potent Pleasures will be glad to see more of Alex and Charlotte. Both Potent Pleasures and Midnight Pleasures make our keeper's list!
